JCSS and Ted Neely

OK so I really, really like Rock Operas. And Jesus Christ Superstar is just about the best out there. I still can’t get over the fact  that Ted Neely, of the original movie version, can still belt out that part. He was really good.

Seeing it live was one of my dream TTDs. I remember the first time I saw it on TV I was under 10 years old and I snuck up to watch TV at night on a school night.  I turned it on and it was just starting. I watched the hippies getting off the bus and setting up then they were singing and dancing then there was Jesus. And it was then that I understood what all the years of going to Catholic church were all about. I did not get Jesus Christ until I saw him as a man. Not just a man but one that I could identify with because of how he was presented to me. With rock music and modern innuendo to illustrate the conflict and dedication that it took to sacrifice himself. I finally got what being a Christian meant.

So I would really like say that I hope that shows like this continue to appear live for people of all ages to experience today.

Living in the Detroit Metro area it makes a real difference not only to have shows to go to but to still have any culture at all. I was happy to see so many people still showing up to the Fox Theatre to watch such a performance , and with their kids and parents.
